PRITCHARD: Mrs. Lynn, for the record, can you state your name and address?
MRS. LYNN: Franny Lynn. I live on Hikes Lane. Thirteen fifty-two. I been there a long time.
PRITCHARD: I understand you were watching your granddaughter this afternoon.
MRS. LYNN: Yes. I was. I was home waiting on her. That’s what I was supposed to be doing.
PRITCHARD: Can you tell me what happened?
MRS. LYNN: She just didn’t come. I kept thinking I’d hear the door or her voice. She’s not quiet, Brittany isn’t. I kept telling myself she was running late or talking again. I waited longer than I should have. I know that now.
PRITCHARD: About what time were you expecting her?
MRS. LYNN: Oh, a little before three. That’s usually when she comes in.
PRITCHARD: When did you first become concerned?
MRS. LYNN: When it got past three and she still wasn’t there. I started pacing. I kept going to the window. I called Crystal after that. Told her she needed to come home.
PRITCHARD: Did you see Brittany at all that afternoon?
MRS. LYNN: No. I didn’t. I was inside most of the time. I thought I’d hear her. That’s what I keep thinking about.
PRITCHARD: Did you see anyone else in the area around that time?
MRS. LYNN: I saw the electric man. The one that reads the meters. He was down the road earlier. I offered him a drink, it’s so warm today.
PRITCHARD: Do you remember about what time that was?
MRS. LYNN: Before three. I can’t tell you exact. I know it was before I started worrying.
PRITCHARD: Anyone else come by?
MRS. LYNN: Caleb did. My nephew. Caleb Rourke. He came by around two-thirty, I think. He stayed maybe ten minutes.
PRITCHARD: What was the reason for his visit?
MRS. LYNN: He wanted to borrow some money, like normal. Said he was short. I told him I didn’t have much and gave him a little. He left after that.
PRITCHARD: Did Brittany come home while he was there?
MRS. LYNN: No. She didn’t. If she had, I would’ve known. She would’ve said something. She always did.
PRITCHARD: Did you notice anything unusual outside? Any noises or disturbances?
MRS. LYNN: No. Nothing. That’s what scares me. Everything was just… normal.
PRITCHARD: Is there anything else you can think of that might help?
MRS. LYNN: I should’ve gone outside sooner. I keep thinking that. I should’ve gone out and looked. She’s a good little girl. She always comes home.
